The meaning of ‘zhuzh’ is a small improvement, adjustment or addition that completes the overall look of something making it more stylish, lively or attractive. At KKI we think of it as adding a little oomph to a space ~ or ‘zhuzhing it up!’

New pillows, a lamp, a rug, maybe some wallpaper, just shifting the furniture around, rearranging the stuff on your shelves ~ any (or all!) of these little adjustments can really brighten up your space and make it feel new + fresh ~ without spending a lot of money, time or effort.

KKI just happens to offer such a service, if you are looking for some creative direction. We call it ‘The Zhuzh’ ~ our budget friendly design catch-all. For those of you who don’t need us to design a full room, this is for you. The Zhuzh can flex and change depending on your smaller-scale needs. We can use our designer’s eye to bring your room together, fill in the finishing touches like custom pillows or decor items, support you in planning for window treatments and lighting, and help you select paint colors or wallpaper.

The Zhuzh can be a two hour design consultation for shelf styling, updating lighting, paint selections, etc. ~ or it can be the first part of a “Designer for a Day” where we develop a scope of work, take measurements + pictures, and come up with a game plan to maximize your experience. Our DFAD service is just that ~ you have us in your home for 3 to 5 hours. We bring samples, ideas, and lunch! It’s amazing what we can accomplish in that amount of time. We’ll shop your home, rearrange furniture, help you select decor items to purchase, and even draw up simple plans for you to use when your orders come in.
